How do I Hire a Therapist?

To assist you in your search for the right therapist for you, at this time, and given the issues you wish to be working on, here are some links to directories of other therapists. You can check out the National Association of Social Workers, Oregon Chapter, among other resources. You may wish interview several therapists to ask questions about their education, experience, areas of focus, philosophical or theoretical orientation, office location, and fees. In addition, it can be helpful to interview a prospective therapist in person to see if there is a "fit" between you. For this reason, Lauren makes available the option of an intitial, one-half hour in-person consultation appointment at no charge.

How do I Make an Appointment?

You can email or telephone to set up an intial in-person consultation. Sessions are by appointment only, with some evening, early morning and weekend availability.

Just shopping around? The intial, half-hour consultation is offered at no charge.

More sure you'd like to go forward? You may choose to schedule an initial, one-hour in-person consultation at half price.

How Much does it Cost?

The initial, half-hour consultation is offered at no charge. Individual therapy is scheduled in one-hour sessions, at $100.00 per hour (a 20% discount is offered for clients who pay out of pocket rather than bill insurance). Couples therapy is scheduled in 1 1/2 hour sessions, at $120.00 per hour. Alternatively, you may schedule an initial, one-hour (individual) or 1 1/2 hour (couples) in-person consultation at half price. Reduced fees and payment plans are negotiable.

What Happens Next?

Should you decide to commit to therapy, you will be asked to complete a series of documents including an Intake Form, a Consent for Therapeutic Services form, a Confidentiality Form and a Fee Agreement. In contracting for services, together with the therapist you will develop goals you would like to achieve, and estimate the length of treatment. You will then set a regular appointment time, during which time the therapist will be totally focused on you, and the achievement of your life goals.
